Dr. Birch is an Assistant Professor in Geriatric Medicine at the Landon Center on Aging and in the Department of Family Medicine. He completed undergraduate study at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, majoring in biology, and received his medical degree at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Dr. Birch did his residency in Family Medicine at Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC. After several years in private practice, he completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, where he also received his Master of Science in Public Health and was a faculty member as well.

Dr. Birch's research interests are polypharmacy reduction, improving transitions of care, and primary care of the geriatric patient.
