The Center on Aging serves as the coordinating body for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate education in geriatrics and the care of older adults. In addition numerous continuing education opportunities are offered for already practicing health care professionals.
The Center on Aging faculty provides aging related content for courses and seminars in academic departments on both the KUMC and Lawrence campuses. In addition, the faculty mentors student research projects, theses, and dissertations. For example, Center members teach and precept students in the nurse practitioner program.
The Center assists academic departments in the recruitment of faculty and the development of curriculum components that have relevance to aging and the care of older persons.
