Landon Center on Aging

Undergraduate Medical Education

The education pillar of the Center on Aging coordinates geriatric training for all third year medical students on the Kansas City campus of the KU School of Medicine. The Geriatric Clerkship is a unique program in that only a small proportion of American medical schools have such required training in geriatrics. This 4 week program is offered by faculty from the Landon Center on Aging in collaboration with the Departments of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine.

Chat-N-Chew Session

Student feedback is valuable in ensuring that we provide the best experience possible during the four-week clerkship. We’ve incorporated a Chat-N-Chew session which is held during the last week of the clerkship. This time is designated to allow students the opportunity to give faculty their views on what geriatric experiences added value to their learning and which experience could be improved. Time will also be set aside to discuss the final exam.
