Pauline was an active participant in life for 61 years when she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in August 1993. Following surgery she recuperated and resumed dancing with the Dazzlers Tap Dancing Troupe. She became active in several programs to aid stroke patients. She volunteers for the American Heart Association and works in the Stroke Survivors and Caregivers program for the American Stroke Foundation. Her latest involvement is with the Aphasia Stroke Support Group through the University of Kansas Medical Center.

In January, 2000, Pauline sustained a second, less severe, stroke. Through her strong determination she again regained her health and continues to dazzle audiences and friends with her talent and valiant spirit.
