THE CENTER FOR IDIOPATHIC MALE INFERTILITY (CIMI)
The Center for Male Idiopathic Male Infertility (CIMI) was conceived in 2007 as a means to foster interaction between basic and clinical scientists interested in forming translational research programs focused on male infertility. The group of interested investigators has grown to eight KU faculty, seven from KUMC one from KU-Lawrence, 6 research collaborators from 6 different institutions, and 4 Outreach collaborating institutions. Through regular weekly meetings, investigators from KU carved out the Center’s directions and goals and developed a strategic plan to acquire and analyze data from humans and mouse models and an organizational plan to capitalize on the expertise of center members and provide a central, integrated focus on the overall center mission; to identify the underlying mechanisms of male infertility as a basis for developing new translational programs that focus on better diagnostics and treatments for men with idiopathic infertility.
