An E-mentoring Model

Ask... Ask the student/nurse of interest in learning more about an advanced nursing career. Participate in planned collaborative presentations to pre-nursing groups, current nursing students, and staff nurses and follow up with interested individuals.

Advise... Advise the student/nurse of educational opportunities for advancing their nursing career. A variety of educational resources, questions for thought, and CNS/Clinical Educator interviews are shared via the monthly e-newsletter. Further information is available through the printable RN to BSN Flier and the RN to MS Flier. As students enter the partnering nursing programs, encourage them to be surveyed and linked with a faculty E-mentor if interested. Additionally, mentees referred from partnering hospitals may be surveyed and linked with a faculty E-mentor as well.

Assist... Assist the student/nurse by encouraging them to complete the clinical leader/clinical educator assessments related to advanced nursing careers provided at this website. Maintain contact with interested students/nurses to assist them to stay focused on individualized career plans via reminders and verbal and electronic communications. Make efforts to help students identify and attain financial aide resources. Direct further questions regarding career planning to the School of Nursing Faculty Mentors.
