Faculty Development Committee

The purpose of the Faculty Development Committee (FDC) is to assist pediatric faculty in achieving their full potential in teaching, patient care, academic service (intramural and extramural), and research/scholarship.

Members:

Members of the FDC will be appointed by the Chair of Pediatrics and can include faculty at any rank. The Chair of the FDC will be a senior faculty member (Full or Associate Professor). Terms of service for all committee members will be one year, with the potential for multiple years of service depending on the approval of the faculty serving on the committee and the Chair of pediatrics.

Duties:

The FDC will assist faculty by any or all of the following ways:

  • Matching Junior faculty with a mentor and monitoring mentoring activities.
  • Sponsoring presentations or conferences on topics relevant to faculty development.
  • Ensure that faculty is aware of and accesses resources provided by the Faculty Development Office of the School of Medicine.
  • Assist faculty in preparing for annual evaluations by the Chair of Pediatrics.
  • Develop ways to evaluate faculty progress in teaching, patient care, academic service, and research/scholarship.
  • Work with Division Chiefs and the Pediatrics Promotion and Tenure Committee.
  • Assist Division Chiefs with their leadership.
